With the recent approvals of Faculty Council, SGA and the ERC, the UTC
Community has adopted an Acceptable Use Practices (AUP) document. The AUP
was developed by faculty, staff, and students over the past five years to
implement the University of Tennessee's “Use of Information Technology
Resources” policy (Section 175, Part 01, of the UT Fiscal Policy Manual).

The principles, responsibilities and obligations described in the AUP apply
to all users and to all UTC technology facilities (including information,
software, computers, networks, and Internet connectivity) provided by UTC
for the activities of the University. All devices connected to the UTC
network that are not owned by UTC are also expected to follow the principles
in the AUP.

Through the AUP, UTC seeks to
  protect the confidentiality of data and the privacy of its users;
  safeguard the integrity of UTC data and resources;
  maintain reasonable availability of UTC IT resources;
  preserve UTC policies regarding harassment and the safety of individuals;
  minimize University liability from community use of IT resources;
  appropriately respond to the misuse of UTC IT resources;
  appropriately respond to claims of infringement of electronically posted
copies of copyrighted materials;

You should report any information concerning instances in which you suspect
or have evidence that the AUP principles have been or are being violated.
Reports about suspected violations may be directed via email to
[log in to unmask] or you may call the UTC HelpDesk at 755-4000.

The complete UTC AUP is available at
