TO ALL WORK STUDY SUPERVISORS:

PLEASE remember that, if your student worker MUST deliver their own
timesheet, it must arrive in our office in a sealed envelope with your name
written across the flap. Far too many students are carrying in their own
time sheets and, although the check comes to your department and can check
the amount they have earned, it is very important that there be very little
opportunity to question the hours submitted.

On the same note: Work Study Students should sign in and out of your
office each day they work. The sign in sheet is what you should use to
complete the submitted biweekly timesheet. This is important because the
sign in sheets are subject to audit as well as the timesheet. Please
remember that work study students are, in most respects, like any other
university employees. I might add that this reminder is necessary because
many supervisors reported hours worked for MLKing Holiday - and the
university was closed on that day.

DO NOT report hours a work study student HAS NOT WORKED! A work study
student CAN work x# of hours per week, but they are paid one hour's wage
for one hour's work. They do not get paid for hours they do not work.

Finally, DO always sign the timesheet. Although I can sign a timesheet, it
is much better if you do since you are the supervisor.

Send me the YELLOW COPY. If you need a copy, please photocopy.

OKAY, I can't think of anything else to say, but, please, if you have
questions or unique problems, give me a call or E-mail..THANKS to all of you.

Julia
