Regarding the earlier posting on Pampered Chef...

> UT Fiscal Policy and Acceptable Use Policy state: University IT

activities
> is prohibited. (see http://oit.tennessee.edu/aup/compliance.html)

Earlier this week, I held back on posting an announcement to UTCSTAFF
regarding a holiday bazaar my wife is organizing for this weekend,
featuring a number of vendors including Pampered Chef. I respect the
policies regarding the use of RAVEN (i.e. non-profit=good;
for-profit=not good), but it's difficult to do this when other staff
aren't playing by the same rules.

"For sale" postings of personal items may be one thing, but the previous
post was clearly over the line in promoting one sales rep's website. My
wife also has a Pampered Chef website, and I know other UTC staff with
similar business ventures. Why should we refrain from promoting these
businesses or websites on UTCSTAFF after postings like the earlier one?

Please, please respect Raven's rules of use, and keep this forum fair
and equitable, lest it be shutdown.

Thank you!
Jon
