CHATTANOOGA ASSOCIATION OF PHI BETA KAPPA
The Chattanooga Association of Phi Beta Kappa will hold a dinner meeting on
Tuesday, October 12, at the Faculty Club at the University of Tennessee at
Chattanooga, 801 Oak Street at the corner of Palmetto.
The meeting will begin with an informal reception at 6:00 pm. A
vegetarian dinner is available upon request.
After dinner we shall have a brief business meeting and a presentation by
Dr. Wilfred M. McClay, the newly-appointed holder of the SunTrust Bank
Chair of Excellence in Humanities at UTC. Dr. McClay is the author of The
Masterless: Self and Society in Modern America and is completing a
biography of the sociologist David Riesman. He will speak on the topic
"Individualism and Its Discontents."
The Chattanooga Association is a chartered association of Phi Beta Kappa
whose membership consists of Phi Beta Kappa members residing in the greater
Chattanooga area. The meeting is open to all members of Phi Beta Kappa and
their guests.
