I can attest to the lack of awareness at this intersection. I've worked
in Holt and EMCS for three years now and lived in Fortwood (or parked
nearby) for the entire time. I walk through this intersection two or
more times a day. It astounds me the number of people who fly through
the stop signs with a "California stop". There was a student last year
who regularly did "wheelies" on his motorocycle on Vine between the
Library and Palmetto. He did the same in front my apartment on Oak St.
He was obviously not a physics student because he didn't understand that
he was creating a projectile with greater momentum that a loose bullet
in an area frequented by children and pets (not to mention cars backing
out of driveways). The greatest irony is that he was riding the
projectile (thoughts of Slim Picken's riding the A-bomb in Dr.
Strangelove...).

I will say that most people are very polite and give me right of way to
cross the intersection. And I've always wondered why there aren't stop
signs on the similar interstion at Oak and Palmetto...
