Dr. Doug Kutz, Ben Gross Professor of Chemistry and Department Chairman,
recently served on a panel to review proposals for the National Science
Foundation (NSF) Course, Curriculum, and Laboratory Improvement (CCLI)
program.
Dr. Kutz served on a five-member panel over a three-day review process. The
review panels examined proposals from chemistry, biology, computer science,
geo-sciences, mathematics, physics, psychology, and engineering. Dr. Kutz's
panel reviewed chemistry proposals in the area of physical chemistry, most
of
them dealing with laser experiments.
Dr. Kutz stated that the experience was a valuable opportunity, giving him
the chance to meet and exchange ideas with other experts in his field and be
exposed to innovative new program proposals. He had the opportunity to
learn more about what a CCLI proposal needs in order to be successful, and
he plans to use this knowledge to enhance his future submissions to the NSF
CCLI program.
Dr. Kutz says the NSF worked the panel members extremely hard during their
three-day review experience, but he strongly recommends that anyone wishing
to learn how to write a good NSF CCLI proposal should serve as a review
panelist.
Congratulations to Dr. Kutz! Being selected by the NSF to serve on this
review panel demonstrates the recognition you have in your discipline, and
the
knowledge you gained during the review process will be a great asset for
UTC's future CCLI proposals.
