Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Provost Search Committee, I would like to provide you with
an update of our efforts thus far.  As of today, February 22nd, we had
received resumes from 78 applicants as well as 9 nominations.  The
committee has commenced reviewing resumes through the use of three
subcommittees who will critically evaluate each resume assigned to their
group and then make recommendations to the entire committee.  The entire
committee will next identify approximately 20 candidates for additional
review.  After further study of the resumes, off-site interviews with
candidates, and contact with references, we will narrow this list to
approximately three candidates who will be invited to campus for interviews
in mid-April.  Again if you wish to nominate someone for the position of
Provost and Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs, please do so as quickly as
possible.  My colleagues on the committee and I welcome your input
regarding any phase of the search.
