Reminder to those who have waited 'til the last minute to submit Gen Ed
proposals of modified courses (which have to go to the Curriculum
Committee) in time for their inclusion in STARS:
12 NOON, THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 11
THIS IS A HARD DEADLINE!
Please deliver copies to Elizabeth Bailey, 108 Race, by this date and
ATTEND THE GENERAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE MEETING AT 3 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, FEB
17 IN THE HIWASSEE ROOM. The number of copies depends on the nature of the
course:
(1) Slightly modified courses (information items to the Curriculum Comm.):
35 copies
(2) Courses which must be approved by the Curriculum Committee
and Faculty Council: 88 copies
(3) Unmodified courses -- see the comment at the bottom of this memo.
We are asking proposers to deliver one large set of copies in order to meet
a tight series of deadlines for the General Education Committee, the
Curriculum Committee, the Faculty Council, and the printing of the Fall
1999 STARS. If all goes well and a proposal is approved at one level, the
qppropriate number of copies will be delivered automatically to the next
level, without further action by the proposer. HOWEVER, IF A PROPOSAL IS
DENIED OR RETURNED FOR REVISIONS AT ANY LEVEL, IT CANNOT MEET THE DEADLINE
FOR THE FALL 1999 SCHEDULE OF CLASSES. So please be careful in writing
your proposals and following procedures. If this makes anyon nervous, I
will be glad to preview proposals before the February 11 deadline.
Meetings to consider proposals:
General Education Committee: 3 pm, Wednesday, Feb. 17, Hiwassee Room
Curriculum Committee: Tuesday, Feb 23
Faculty Council: Thursday, March 4
UNMODIFIED COURSES
* Proposals for certifying courses which have not been modified and do not
need to be sent to the Curriculum Committee may be submitted to the General
Education as late as 12 noon, Thursday, February 25. Please deliver 15
copies to E. Bailey (108 Race) by this time.
