Ann Laster, the administrative assistant at Cadek Conservatory of Music,
recently had ankle surgery to correct a persistent problem.  After several
weeks of convalescence, she had again returned to work and attend classes at
UTC.  Unfortunately, a series of blood clots from the ankle made their way
to her lungs.  Ann was rushed to Memorial Hospital.  She is currently in
medical ICU.  The doctors placed her on blood-thinners and are carefully
monitoring her status, since there is a possibility of more blood clots.
The doctors expect her to remain in the IUC for at least another day and
remain in the hospital for at least two additional days.  She will be
confined to bed rest for at least five weeks.  I visited her today and is
good spirits and grateful to be alive. Our prayers and thoughts go out to
her and her family.
