Dr. Audrey Canaff of Graduate Studies in Education and Dr. Jane Brower of
the Teacher Preparation Academy have been awarded a $49,917 grant for the
2001-2002 academic year to implement the Each One Reach One Program.
This program seeks to increase the number of African-American male teachers
and administrators in Tennessee's elementary schools through recruitment,
counseling for retention, financial support toward graduation, and
employment placement. The project will provide support services to the
participants such as individualized tutoring, personal and academic
counseling, and mentoring relationships to encourage perseverance toward
their goal of becoming a classroom teacher.
Congratulations to Drs. Canaff and Brower on securing the funding to
continue this program into its tenth year at UTC, and also on their
commitment to making a positive impact on elementary and secondary students
through the continued success of the Each One Reach One program.
