Dear Colleagues,

Allow me to remind you of two notable events this month.

First is Honors Day: April 9, 4:30-5:30, Hayes Auditorium. All faculty,
whether they are presenting awards or just attending the event, are expected
to wear academic regalia (preferably their own) and to appear in the Fine
Arts Center lobby at 4:15. Our beloved Marshall, Tom Bibler, will insure we
are all seated in the traditional manner. The ceremony will last one hour
and end with a reception in the lobby. If you are presenting an award on
stage, please insure that the person supposed to receive the award is
actually there to receive it.

Honors Day is not to be confused with the Undergraduate Research Conference
hosted by the University Honors Program, April 18, 3:30 to 5:30, in the Flag
Room of Guerry Center (Guerry 202). This year's event features the following
six 15-minute presentations:

Andrea Crilly, "Title IX and Intercollegiate Athletics: An Analysis of Title
IX Policy Implementation at UTC."

Jessica Ford, "The Impact of Phosphates on the Coral Reefs Surrounding the
Big Island of Hawaii."

Dana Hooper, "Predicting Gas-Solid Chromotographic Retention Times Using
Physical Properties of Molecules."

Scott Kuban, "A Practical Study of Internet-based Micro-businesses."

Peter Westmorland, "A Treatment of the Law of Causality and Epistemological
Nihilism."

Dori Griffin, "Transforming Language: Typography, Transparency, and
Deconstruction."

Thanks for taking a moment to mark your calendar accordingly. See you there.
