Greetings to all here:

I am prompted to join what I must deem this useless debate among
the already converted about university priorities by Betsy D.'s comments
about baseball replacing football in the UTC athletic pantheon. I was I
think chair of the Athletics Committee when baseball as a "men's sport" was
dropped because of several reasons: one was the dreadfully uncertain spring
weather in this region--especially given our short spring term--causing
many postponed games locally and potentially cancelled games for a team on
the road; another was the mandated balancing of "women's sports," causing
