The Spring 2002 Jones Observatory Season will be coming to an end next Sunday.
Due to popular demand and an unprecedented opportunity, we are going to do
something different. May 5 will be the peak of our 5 planet alignment. To
reach more of the public, and obtain a better view of this event, we will be
observing from the Walnut Street Bridge. This should give us a good view of
the western sky. Since we are looking at the planets, the effects of light
pollution should be minimal. We will be using some of the telescopes made
available through the Lupton Renaissance Fund.

Join us in the middle of the Walnut Street Bridge Sunday May 5. We will begin
setting up at 7:30 PM. The best viewing should be after 8:00 PM. We will
stay
there until about 9:30 PM. Members of the Barnard Astronomical Society will
also participate. Needless to say, all of this is weather permitting. If it
is rainy
or overcast--we WILL NOT BE THERE.
