Hello all! This is Jason Griffey again, bringing you interesting
websites from around the wonderful World Wide Web.

You may have noticed quite a break in coverage, July - Sept. 2006. Well,
it's not because I haven't been finding cool and interesting stuff. It's
because I haven't found the time to update the site and get out an
appropriate email.

So, in considering the issue, next month I'll be moving this to a
slightly different and better format. Stay tuned for details....I won't
stop finding interesting things, and I won't stop providing them to you.
We'll just move to a less labor intensive method of dissemination.

And with that: the websites!

Smithsonian Photography Initiative
http://photography.si.edu/

An incredible collection of photographs from the Smithsonian, organized
in a beautiful way. Take 15 minutes and look around, and I'm sure you'll
find something extraordinary.

PDF Online
https://www.pdfonline.com/convert_pdf.asp

Ever found yourself with a Microsoft Word file, and you need a PDF fast?
Well, here's the site for you...feed it any one of a dozen filetypes,
and it will email you a PDF, free!

BookMooch
http://bookmooch.com/

Got old books you don't want? Got new books you do want? BookMooch is
for you. Think: Ebay meets a swapmeet for books...you sign up with
BookMooch, list the books that you have that you are willing to send
out, and the books that you wish to have sent to you. BookMooch manages
putting the two together, and uses a reputation system to ensure
everyone is on the up and up. Send a book, and get enough credit to
receive one, or get a credit for every 10 books you add to your send
pool. NB: I highly recommend that you still use the library, and don't
rely on BookMooch for your reading needs. (I am contractually obligated
to say that as a librarian.)

Digital Library of Appalachia
http://www.aca-dla.org/index.php

Near and dear to my heart, this is a great digital collection of
information on Appalachia. "The Digital Library of Appalachia provides
online access to archival and historical materials related to the
culture of the southern and central Appalachian region. The contents of
the DLA are drawn from special collections of Appalachian College
Association member libraries."
