Hey, Folks:

Here is Arts Chat for the week. Please don't forget the upcoming
performances on campus as well. Nexus will be here on November 12 for a
master class at 1:00 pm with the UTC Percussion Ensemble and for a
performance at 7:30. Check out our website at www.utc.finearts/finearts.

If anyone with tickets knows he/she will not be able to attend Flamenco
Vivo! on Sunday, November 4, please share your tickets with someone you
know will come, or call us at the box office to let us know you cannot
attend.

Thanks once again,
Kim

>If you haven't been museum or gallery-hopping in a while, this is a great
>week for it. The Association for Visual Artists' gallery on Frazier Avenue
>is currently featuring a very moving photography exhibit, called "Village
>Life: Images of the Gambia." These beautiful black and white photographs by
>Linda Voychehovski perfectly capture the spirit of a people and a place most
>of us know little about.
>
>This week also brings the opening of the annual Spectrum show at the Hunter
>Museum. Spectrum is an important fund-raiser for the Museum, but it's also
>a great art show. So, even if you're not one of them, you too can see what
>the high rollers will be buying at the auction next week. Come to the
>Hunter this Friday and you can get in free, since it's First Friday Freebie
>at the Museum. And by the way, you don't really have to be a high roller to
>enjoy the silent and live auctions. Much of the work to be sold is in the
>affordable range--honest.
>
>Wednesday is Halloween of course, and the African American Museum is cooking
>up some tricks and treats for the kids. Starting at 6:00, the Museum will
>feature games, prizes, movies, and lots of fun.
>
>The Regional History Museum has beautiful quilts, the Houston has
>butterflies, the Creative Discovery Museum has "scientific" toys--there are
>wonders everywhere. Get out there and see 'em!
>
>Once again, we've just scratched the surface of what's available in the arts
>this week. Our website has much, much more.
