Let me begin by saying that I doubt that you were anymore outraged by the
antics of these people from Kiss 98 than I was ,nor anymore than the
Admissions Office is for anyone attributing that program to them. There is
no question in my mind that this behavior is not what we want to exhibit
regardless of what the current culture might be.
The radio station arranged through regular channels to have a brief
promotion on the campus early on the morning of the 28th of February, but
did not indicate that they were planning anything as outrageous as what
they did.
We are used to dealing with professionals in the entertainment media here,
but it is obvious that this was not the case . They should have, and I
feel all other stations in the area would have, alerted us to anything of
this poor taste that they might be planning. I doubt any of them would
have tried this in the first place..
Fortunately, I doubt any of the prospective students or their parents saw
this spectacle.
In any event we intend to notify the station of our opinions on this and
will advise them that they will have a hard time using us
as a site in the future. REM
