Forrest Robinson is one of the most exciting and in-demand drum set
artists in the world. Originally from Memphis, TN, he is a UTC
alumnus. While a student here, Forrest performed in the UTC
Percussion Ensemble, Jazz band, Marching Band, and was timpanist in
the UTC Orchestra.

As a jazz, rock and hip-hop drummer, Forrest has appeared live with
India.Arie, Arrested Development, TLC, Victor Wooten, the Aquarium
Rescue Unit and many others, and also with the jazz-fusion group
Charisma, and most recently toured Japan with Japanese pop artist
Hikaru Utaka. His televised performances include Saturday Night
Live, the Letterman Show, Good Morning America, and the Tonight Show
Starring Jay Lenno. He is a two-time Grammy award winner with
India.Arie, for Best Urban Alternative Album and Best Alternative
Urban Single. He was featured in Modern Drummer magazine (July 02),
and is an endorser for Gretch, Sabian, Roland, and Evans musical
instruments and Gibralter hardware.

Forrest will present a clinic on modern rock and hip-hop drumming in
the Hayes Concert Hall on 4:00 October 9. He will present a
clinic/performance with the UTC Percussion Ensemble, Directed by Dr.
Monte Coulter, at 7:00 the same day, also in the Hayes Concert Hall.
Both events are free, and the public, and especially UTC students,
are invited to attend. The event is supported by the UTC Music
Department, the Percussive Arts Society, Gretch drums, and UTC
Speakers and Special Events.

Although this event does not exactly coincide with Homecoming events,
it is definitely a homecoming of sorts, by a UTC student who has
risen to the top of his profession.

Best,

Monte Coulter
