The February Chattanooga Writers Guild meeting is coming up this Tuesday,
don't miss it!
When: Tuesday, Feb. 12th, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Where: The Lutheran School in East Ridge (off Belvoir Avenue)
Who: Eleanor McCallie Cooper, a CWG member, will be reading from her book,
"Grace in China: An American Woman Beyond the Great Wall, 1934-74"
More about the author and book:
"Grace in China" is the true story of a Chattanooga native, Grace Divine, who
lived in China for 40 years. The story is told creatively through letters,
articles, and memoir. Eleanor became fascinated by her aunt's story when
Grace returned from China in1974. Eleanor helped her aunt write her own story
but she died before she finished. The idea of the book waited for 20 years,
then was published last year by Black Belt Press in Montgomery (now RiverCity
Publishing). Eleanor received good news recently that Soho Press in New York
has acquired it and will be brought out in 2002/3. Anyone interested in
acquiring the first edition of Grace in China will find it at B&N, Barrettes,
Wildfire, and A Novel Idea. Also signed copies are available directly from
the author by emailing [log in to unmask]
I hope to see you at the meeting!
