Representatives from the Hamilton County Schools will be on campus
Monday, December 3, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the lobby of the University
Center, to answer questions and distribute applications for the
county's Magnet Schools, including the new Brown Academy for
Classical Studies, located adjacent to campus on McCallie Avenue, and
the Battle Academy for Teaching and Learning, located at Main and
Market Streets. UTC is a major partner in the development of these
schools and faculty and students from our College of Education and
Applied Professional Studies will be active in them.

Downtown employees, UTC faculty members and UTC students who are
parents of elementary school-aged children are encouraged to consider
the schools.

The Brown Academy will have a liberal arts emphasis with immersion in
the classical studies of literature, history, and the sciences.

The Battle Academy will focus on multiple intelligences with a
national reading program used to strengthen skills for all students.

Application deadline for Hamilton County Magnet Schools is February 15, 2002.
