Dear Colleague,

I join President Shumaker in inviting you to join us for a chance to
interact with the President in an open forum on Tuesday, March 4, between
2:00 and 4:00 p.m. in Grote 129.

The President seeks and opportunity to discuss his perceptions of state
policy and finance issues and hear your views regarding providing Tennessee
the best university we can.  He also is expected to discuss new strategies
for diversifying revenues and increasing research in pursuit of the mission
of the system and UTC..  President Shumaker will want to discuss a revised
approach to the University of Tennessee Research Foundation.

Opportunities to comment on the President's support of a "differentiated
brand" approach to UTC's relationship with Knoxville, Martin, Memphis,
Tullahoma, and "system" will be provided.  Comments will also be welcome
about UTC's budgeting approach, the cuts expected here and
state-wide,  campus and university-wide scorecard(s), and items likely to
be on the agenda of the Board of Trustees.
