Susan Ritz, graduate student in Psychology, recently won a $1,000 grant
form SPSSI, a professional organization that represents the interests of
Social Psychologists. Ms. Ritz was one of only five graduate students
nationwide to
win this award.

Ms. Ritz will use the grant funding to complete further research of
her thesis proposal, which deals with the stereotypes and
prejudice experienced in college by students from low-income families.

This award reflects well on UTC's Psychology program. As noted by
Dr. David Pittenger, department head, "Our students are capable of
great work, and UTC can be proud of the education it offers."

Congratulations to Ms. Ritz on this honor.
