Mr. Jonathan Looney, Director of Financial Aid, has received $6,400 from the
Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) to continue the Counselor
Internships project.  Mr. Looney will use the funding to enable two high
school guidance counselors to work in the Office of Financial Aid at UTC
this summer.

Mr. Looney and financial aid staff ensure that the guidance counselors will
gain valuable knowledge and applied experience about how a university-level
financial aid office operates and how financial aid administration is
critical for students making the transition from high school to
post-secondary programs.  The two counselors will spend up to ten hours
each week in the financial aid office, and the grant will provide monetary
compensation during their training.

Congratulations to Mr. Looney!  The guidance counselors involved in this
internship project will acquire important knowledge about university-level
financial aid, which will enable them to support high school students
during the transition from high school to higher education.
