I have already received several names of prospects for The Washington Center
internships in Spring 2004. Some of the inquiries I have received suggest
that clarification of two points is necessary.
First, the minimum eligibility requirements are a 2.75 cumulative GPA and
rising second-semester sophomore status. Applicants do not have to be
sophomores. Preference will be given to juniors and seniors.
Second, this pilot program will be offered for Spring 2004 only. The UT
campuses participating in this program have not determined the frequency of
this opportunity. It may recur each spring semester, fall/spring, every term
(including summer), or not at all. Unfortunately, I do not know when that
determination will be made, although it will almost certainly be after this
first group of applications has been evaluated.
The students who have already expressed interest include some excellent
candidates. Please continue to send prospects to me as soon as possible.
