Hey folks,

Before you read about the arts in Chattanooga this week, please take a
minute to read the following important information.

On Saturday, August 4th, The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation,
Chattanooga Affiliate, will present the first annual Breast Cancer
Symposium at the Chattanooga Chattanoogan Hotel Conference Center.

This event is designed to educate our community about breast cancer,
causes, treatment, research, nutrition and living with the disease or
living with someone who has the disease. Educating the public is one of the
most important aspects of the work done by the Komen Foundation.

The symposium will feature a keynote address by Lille Shockley: nurse,
administrator and breast cancer survivor. The afternoon and dinner
together cost $25.00. Here is the itinerary.

                                Y-Me of Chattanooga Healing Arts

                                The Genetics of Breast Guidelines

Look Good Feel Better - American Cancer Society

                                For Men Only

3:30 - 4:30 pm Session II - Repeat of Session I

5:00 pm Dinner and Keynote Address

As you probably know the Dorothy Patten Series and the Fine Arts Center
work with the Race for the Cure as part of our outreach. I hope many of you
will avail yourselves of this chance to get better informed about the fight
against breast cancer.

For more complete information about the event and to order tickets to
attend, please contact Kathy Dittmar or Kathy Igou at 495-6744.

We should receive applications soon for the Race for the Cure on September
29, with appearances by Patten Series artists T. S. Monk and Nnenna Freelon.
