The Kauffman Entrepreneur Internship Program (KEIP) awards grants to
develop and implement innovative internship programs in entrepreneurial
organizations. Interns may be undergraduate or graduate students, and
internships can last from three months to a year. KEIP is not restricted
to business schools; applications from other disciplines are welcomed.

Two types of KEIP are funded: 1) the traditional program provides up to
$100,000 to place interns in for-profit entrepreneurial firms and 2) the
social program provides up to $25,000 to place interns at non-profits that
use entrepreneural skills to address social issues (e.g.cleaning up
pollution, improving health care for underserved populations). A
university may receive funding for both types of KEIP. Organizations where
interns are placed must earn less $50 million per year and/or have fewer
than 200 employees.

Thirty to 40 projects are funded each year. Past recipients include East
Tennessee State University, Tennessee State University, and Georgia State
University. New application materials will be issued in October, with
proposals due in December (tentative). For additional information,
including last year's application and a list of past recipients, see
http://www.keip.org/

Please let me know if you are interested in applying for a KEIP grant.
