Dr. Barbara Medley and Dr. Galen Janeksela have
received $180,136 from the U.S. Department of Education to establish the
Westside Community Technology Center (WesTech CTC). Serving residents of
Chattanooga's Westside community, the Center will offer computer access and
a variety of technology-related services.

The WesTech CTC will serve as a portal to higher education for Westside
residents, support technology training programs, and provide in-home
computers for community residents. This program marks a major community
outreach initiative within the Westside, a program that will result in
higher UTC enrollment among Westside residents and greater technology
awareness and access within the community.

The Office of Grants & Program Review's Meredith Perry assisted Drs. Medley
and Janeksela with proposal development. In a competition where only 11%
of submitted proposals were funded and only two grants were made in the
entire state of Tennessee, this award is a notable achievement for
the proposal development team.

Please join us in congratulating Drs. Medley and Janeksela who will
implement this worthwhile program.
