Recently the library has seen an increase in the amount of money charged

to us for Inter-Library Loan materials that are returned late or not at
all. It is library policy to pass on the cost of ILL services to our
borrowers. This cost includes charges levied on overdue and
non-returned items. From this time forward, all patrons, including
faculty and staff, will be required to pay any fines incurred from late
or non-returned ILL materials. Because these fines are determined by
the lending institution, we will not be able to predict the charges at
the time the item is returned. Non-payment will result in the
suspension of library privileges.

It is very important that ILL materials be returned in a timely manner
not only because of monetary considerations but also because borrowing
agreements between libraries rely on the trust that one library holds in

another. If ILL materials are returned late or not at all, UTC's
ability to borrow books from other libraries can be suspended or
revoked. Every ILL patron's cooperation is needed to ensure that Lupton

Library will be able to continue to provide the best possible
Inter-Library
Loan service.
