The UTC Symphony, under the direction of Dr. Steven Bird, will present its
final program of the 1998-99 season this Sunday, April 11, 1999 at 3:00 pm
in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center, located on the
corner of Vine Street and Palmetto. The concert will feature two of the
winners of the 1999 UTC Symphony Concerto/Aria Competition, held in January
1999.

G. Eddie McCrary, a senior music education major, will present the first
movement of Carl Maria von Weber's "Bassoon Concerto", and Aaron Webb, a
junior voice major, will sing two arias -- "O du mein holder Abendstern"
from Wagner's *Tannhauser*, and "Non piu andrai" from Mozart's *Marriage of
Figaro*. The third winner, Bret Alford, a junior music performance major,
will present Dragonetti's *Concerto for String Bass* as part of the October
1999 UTC Symphony concert.

Also featured on this program will be the UTC Chamber Singers, Roland
Carter, Director, and the Chattanooga State Concert Chorale, Neshawn Bynum,
Director, who will combine forces with the UTC Symphony Orchestra to
perform the African-American composer William Grant Still's ballet
"Sadhji", for chorus and orchestra.

Conducting M.M. student Sandy Morris will also be featured, leading the UTC
Symphony in Beethoven's "Overture to Fidelio".

The program is free, and the public is warmly invited to attend.
