Subject: Reallocation Report

This year's state appropriations bill called on UT and the Tennessee
Board of Regents to determine how we might "operate more efficiently
and with more limited resources" and to submit a report to the
Finance Ways and Means Committees of the Senate and House of
Representatives by January 1, 2002.  UT's report is ready for the
Board of Trustees to consider at its December 11 meeting in Knoxville.

The Trustees have received copies of "Critical Choices for Tennessee:
The Impact of Limited Resources on The University of Tennessee." For
your information the report has been posted on my website at
http://pr.tennessee.edu/president/
