This if a brief follow-up from an earlier e-mail message that you may have
received on Wednesday, April 14, 1999 from Shannon Smith of the University
Center informing you of the passing away of one of our former employee's of
the Blue 'n' Gold Shoppe, Betty "Granny" Jenkins.
For those of us that knew her, she was very well known for the warm and
compassionate love that she had for the many students that she came in
contact with over her years of employment at the University Center. I
personally remember through many of our conversations after her sudden
illness, she would on numerous occassions ask me if I thought that she
could return to work just a few hours at the UC just so that she could be
in touch with the students that she loved so dearly. She had a sincere love
for the students of our university unlike any I've ever seen.
I would like to inform the university community that memorial services will
be held for her on Sunday, April 18, 1999 at the Chattanooga Funeral Home
North, at 2:00PM or you may feel free to forward your cards, flowers, or
etc. to her surviving husband, James "Turtle" Jenkins at: 4525 Delashmitt
Road, Hixson, TN 37343.
