For those of you who have been waiting for a class on using Macromedia's
DreamWeaver as I have been recommending in my basic web class, it's here!
Date: Friday, December 7 and Friday, December 14, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM.
Location: Walker Teaching Resource Center, 401 Hunter Hall
This is ONE class, two meeting times. During the first you will get the
introduction to DreamWeaver, and be given an exercise to test your skills
before the next class. In the second meeting, we will go over any
questions that came up, and introduce some more advance topics.
There are only 6 of 7 seats left in the class (1 taken by our host
already!) A waiting list will be kept in case of last minute
cancellations, and preferred dates/times will be collected for help in
scheduling Spring term classes. I anticipate one class per month through
the Spring based on demand.
To take this class you should already have DreamWeaver installed on your
PC or Mac, in order to be able to accomplish the exercises. It is
available in the UTC Bookstore. You can also get a combination package of
DreamWeaver with FireWorks (a graphics package) for a very reasonable
price. Those of you who are more advanced may even want to consider the
ultimate package, Web Design Studio which includes DreamWeaver,
FireWorks, Flash (an animation package), and Illustrator (a package for
creating vector oriented graphics.)
DreamWeaver is a dedicated HTML editor for creating Web pages. It is
highly recommended as a replacement for Netscape Composer, MS Word, or
other programs that are not primarily designed for the purpose of
creating web pages. It is used in the Office of University Relations for
creating the UTC web site and has been found as a very useful and
flexible tool.
See you in class!
