HH Battle Mentors Day: February 25th, 2004

The HH Battle Professorship is a private fund set up through donations from
the local community. Its intention is to raise awareness among Chattanoogan
African American school children about the possibilities of a
college-education. More generally speaking, the Professorship seeks to
advance the cause of higher education, particularly in the area of
African-American History and Culture.

On Wednesday, February 25, there will be approximately 85 area high school
students on campus. These students will be paired with mentors from the
existing student body who will take them to class and show them around the
university environs. The highlight of the day will be a formal luncheon
with talks by both a keynote speaker and the President of the Black
Student's Association. The intent is to demonstrate the diversity of the
UTC campus and the importance of a college education.

If you have any questions regarding this, please don't hesitate to
contact Dr. Melissa Anyiwo at 425 - 4908.
