I'd like to remind the campus of two new services the Help Desk is now
offering:
(1) If you have computers that need to be surplused, the Help Desk will pick
them up and take them to our central storage facility where they will be
evaluated for possible redistributio to the campus. We'll also do all the
paperwork to ensure the computers are taken off your department's inventory.
(2) If you are in need of a "used" computer for your department, contact the
Help Desk and we will match your needs against the computers we've collected
and refurbished. We also have monitors, mice, and keyboards. We always
encourage "trade=ins." In other words, when possible we try to collect one
computer for every one we distribute.
Whether you need to get rid of an old computer or request a surplus
computer, the procedure is the same: E-mail the Help Desk at
[log in to unmask] or call 425-4000 during business hours. In either case,
it's important that you give us the UTC TAG NUMBERS (the 6-digit number from
a blue/silver tag that says "Property of the University of Tennessee") of
the computers you wish to surplus or trade-in for a newer model.
