Dear Colleagues,

In response to the interest of most of us, the university will again
encourage "business casual" Fridays during July and August.  Additionally,
the university family will be invited to come together for our summer
picnics on the following dates:

July 6, 2001     Student Development, Hosts

July 13, 2001    Finance and Operations, Hosts

August 3, 2001   Academic Affairs, Hosts

August 10, 2001  Athletics & Chancellor's Office, Hosts

August 17, 2001  University Advancement, Hosts

Thanks to the encouragement from ERC and the Executive Council,  Friday
"business casual" and the community picnics have been very welcome to the
culture of the campus, celebrating the friendships and cooperation across
university departments and functions.  Of course, no use of scarce state
funds will go into our picnics. I look forward to seeing you often this
summer.
