Hello all..

Please excuse the redundancy..

A reminder of the events of this weekend's Contemporary Music Symposium
sponsored by the Music Departmentment, Art Department, Allied Arts, Tennessee
Arts Commission and the Speakers and Special Events Committee:

Friday April 16

        7:00 P.M.- Regional Campus Composers' Concert I: Works of student composers
from UTC and Birmingham-Southern College presented in the Roland Hayes Concert
Hall in the Fine Arts Center. Multi-media, tape and improv works are the focus
of this program. Followed by a panel discussion featuring the young composers.
No admission charge.

Saturday April 17

        10:00 A.M - Regional Campus Composers' Concert II: More works by young
composers from both schools in the Hayes. Traditional media are the focus of
this concert. No admission charge.

        1:00 P.M. - Open dress rehearsal of the evening concert followed by a panel
discussion featuring artists and performers talking about the topic of
collaboration in the arts. Roland Hayes Concert Hall..no admission charge.

        7:30 P.M. - Pre-concert lecture on the works and techniques of Olivier
Messiaen by visiting professor James Mathes of the Florida State University.

        8:00 P.M. - Multi-arts presentation of the Messiaen *Chants de Terre et de
Ciel* and the *Quartet for the End of Time* in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall.
$5.00 Admission to the lecture and concert.

        During both days of the Symposium, art work by Hamilton County School
students based on their study of the works performed during the Symposium
will be displayed in the Fine Arts Center.
