MARVEL" - ON JAN. 12TH 6 PM @ UTC BENWOOD AUDITORIUM, DISTINGUISHED LECTURER
COL. RICHARD GRAHAM WILL GIVE A LECTURER ON HIS EXPERIENCE FLYING THE SR-71
BLACKBIRD

ASME Student Chapter & ASME Chattanooga Section
                          are honored to present

Richard H. Graham, Col. USAF, (Ret)
and ASME Distinguished Lecturer Program titled:

                   SR-71 BLACKBIRD AN ENGINEERING MARVEL

Imagine. It's 1960. But for the Boeing 707, the Douglas DC8 and the
Havilland Comet, most aircraft are still propeller air planes. Yet here you
are, a member of a design team for a super-secret jet.the SR-71.

The Blackbird is one of the most magnificent military jets ever developed.
As a long-range strategic reconnaissance aircraft, it's capable of flying
at speeds over Mach 3.2 (2100mph) at an altitude of 85,000 feet (~15
miles).

Our speaker, Col. Richard Graham flew Blackbirds for over seven years on
recon missions. He was selected to be the Squadron Commander of the SR-71
unit and eventually became the Wing Commander at Beale AFB for both the
SR-71 and U-2 aircraft. With over 15 years of experience with the SR-71,
he is uniquely qualified to talk on the engineering design challenges and
capabilities of this aircraft.

When: Wednesday, January 12, 2005,
Reception starts at 6:00 pm Lecture starts at 7:00 pm

Where: Benwood Auditorium
College of Engineering and Computer Science\
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (on Vine at Palmetto)

Free and Open to the Public:
Mark your calendars for this exciting program and bring a guest because the
talk will be interesting to students, future engineers, current engineers,
                             flyers and more.

Arrive early and get an informal tour of the College of Engineering and
                             Computer Science.
