Dear University Community,

First of all, I want to thank Christina for the immense amount of help
she's provided to us in the library and to the students and faculty members
who have utilized the service.

Second, I would like to express some reasons why the location should not
change. Please keep in mind that I work the at the circulation desk and
actually see what goes on.

1) Christina keeps the five public copiers in the building full of paper.
Traditionally this was a job performed by the library staff, but now staff
member are free for other duties. (I know we're understaffed and I think
most other departments are in the same boat.) We greatly appreciate this.

2) Students now have the option of how much they want to pay to copy most
reserve items (since the great majority of them cannot be removed from the
library). If the students come in during the day, they can pay 7 cents per
page plus tax at Docusource, or pay 10 cents per page at the copy machines.
Some faculty have a large number pages on reserve, so this can be a
significant difference. Also, I was informed by other personnel here that
before the change, a significant number of students had questioned why it
was in the UC and not here.

3) Christina is usually able to do the copying much faster since she has
document feeders on the machines. (A time savings in addition to a money
savings.)

4) Somehow, I think that if the AC is not being turned on for the entire
university (as was the case recently) then it would have been off in both
the library and the university center, thereby reducing machine life and
increasing maintenance in either location. But I could be wrong.

5) As far as noise levels at the window, I have very rarely had any problem
with any one being loud. In fact, I usually have more problems with loud
groups "studying" or actually studying than with anyone at the door to
Docusource. Plus, we have that nice collection of newspapers right there
for those who have to wait.

Again, these are the opinions and observations of primarily a staff member,
but a student too. I do look forward to the survey results when they come out.

Thank you for you're time and attention.
