From your Department of Public Safety

As a reminder, TCA Code 55-8-134, Pedestrian Right-of-Way in Crosswalks,
requires vehicle drivers to stop when pedestrians are in a crosswalk.
People are our most important resources and there is no need to jeopardize
their safety for the 10 seconds drivers may save by driving through a
crosswalk in front of pedestrians. Your Department of Public Safety will
be vigilent for violations of this Motor Vehicle Law.

Also, the "diamond" lane on East Fifth Street is for bus and bicycle
traffic only. Drivers may pass into this lane in order to park along the
street curb. Drivers should stay in the far left traffic lane when
traveling on East Fifth Street.

If you have any question on these matters, please don't hesitate to ask one
of your UTC Police Officers.
