Colleagues, the Budget Committee meeting today and the open session with
the Chancellor today are crucial times in the life of UTC.  The open
session has been set aside for the Chancellor to address issues that
concern the entire University community.  While we all have our individual
concerns, I trust that we all are also interested in the University as a
whole and that we will focus our attention in that area.  As Chancellor
Stacy seeks to address the way priorities have been/should be determined
and budgeted for on this campus, my hope is that we can get past the anger
and hurt on all sides and have a civil, productive discussion in which
reason, not emotion, guides us.
