Dr. Bonnie Warren, director of the Urban IMPACT program in the College of
Education and Applied Professional Studies, has been awarded $11,255 in
supplemental funding from the U.S. Department of Education. This brings
the total amount of funding for this year to $603,258.

The Urban IMPACT (Innovating to Motivate and Prepare Able Classroom
Teachers in urban settings) program is a Teacher Quality Partnership grant
that is entering year 4 of the 5 year project period. Dr. Warren and her
staff utilize Urban IMPACT funding to empower in-service and pre-service
teachers to succeed in classrooms of diverse, urban learners -- ultimately
ensuring that a higher number of well-prepared teachers are retained in
urban schools.

The supplemental funding will enable Dr. Warren and her staff to
participate in a technical assistance meeting where they will have the
opportunity to meet with grantees from all over the country to share the
results of their program and to discuss rewarding approaches for preparing
high-quality teachers.

Congratulations to Dr. Warren! The success of the Urban IMPACT program is
a credit to your good work and to the University's commitment to K-16
teaching excellence.
