The Ohio State University Research Foundation, supported by grant money
from the US Office of Naval Research, has awarded Dr. Elizabeth Guthrie
$40,392 to continue research in collaboration with Dr. Patrick Hatcher of
Ohio State University.  Dr. Guthrie and Dr. Hatcher will continue their
study of the chemical processes related to biodegradation, aging, and
incorporation of metabolites in the organic matter of marine sediments.

Dr. Guthrie is the first faculty member at UTC to conduct this kind of
research for the Office of Naval Research.  Her work is contributing
significantly to increased recognition and acclaim being received by the
UTC Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences for its
environmental research.
