In observance of the upcoming elections Lupton Library is holding a display
of political memorabilia in several display cases on the first floor of the
library. Many of these buttons, stickers, and magazine covers are from the
Frank Prescott Collection in the Special Collections. Dr. Frank Prescott
was a political science professor at this university from 1928 until his
retirement in 1967. For many of these years he was head of the department
and held the position of Adolph S. Ochs Professor of Government. He was
also a member of the first four Tennessee Constitutional Conventions.
Included in the display are presidential campaign buttons going back to the
early 20th century (some reproductions), bumper stickers, magazine covers,
and local election memorabilia. The display will run until after the
election in early November.
