The UTC EHLS department sponsors a fitness program for faculty, staff and
spouses called Healthy Mocs. The program includes a full fitness evaluation
which consists of: risk factor assessment, graded exercise treadmill
test/EKG,(with MD supervision as needed), body composition, muscular
strength/endurance and flexibility. The results of the testing are used to
write an exercise prescription based on current fitness levels, any medical
concerns and client goals. Each time you exercise your heart rate and blood
pressure are monitored and your entire workout is documented. Your program
is updated on a regular basis according to improvement and/or medical
concerns. The lab is fully equiped with 7 treadmills, 4 rowers, 3
stairmasters, EFX cross trainer, virtual reality bike, 3 Nordic trac
skiers, walkfit treadmill, 5 Airdynes, resistance training machines and
some free weights. The program serves as a clinical setting and teaching
lab for our students enrolled in Exercise Science: Fitness/Wellness and
Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation. The cost for all testing, training and
re-evaluation is $15.00 per month or $60.00 per semester. The student
sending "reminders" to participate are free!! We can't guarantee that you
will "look like Arnold" but if you participate on a regular basis, amazing
things can happen! The program operates on the University calendar. Hours
for this Fall include: Early Birds: Monday and Wednesday AM 6:30-8 AM,
Lunch Bunch Tues., Thurs., and Friday 11-1 and Evening Crowd Monday thru
Thursday 4-7 PM. We expect to operate during similar times for the Spring
semester. For the rest of the Fall semester we are open tonight from 4-7
pm, Friday 11-1 and Monday 4-7. Please stop in and check us out! We are
located in the Arena in room 218 - use Gate A. There is plenty of parking
in the Arena lots especially after 4 pm. If you have questions or would
like a brochure and application please call Pat Mosher at 755-4745, Burch
Oglesby 755-5214 or call the Lab 755-5216. Thanks!
