CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---The Chattanooga wrestling team has a chance to earn a
tie for its second-straight Southern Conference regular-season championship
Wednesday as the Mocs host VMI in the regular-season finale.
The Mocs are 3-1 in the league after Sunday’s conference sweep of The
Citadel and Davidson and are tied for second place with Appalachian State.
The Keydets enter the match in first place at 4-0 after defeating
Appalachian State 33-3 last week.

SoCon matches this season including Oliver Ruiz at 125 pounds, Matt Erwin
at 157, Gill Decher at 165, Isaac Moore at 197 and heavyweight Leslie
Apedoe who is ranked No. 4 nationally.
The Mocs (6-5, 3-1) counter with six undefeated wrestlers in league
competition. Heath Eslinger, ranked 15th, meets Erwin at 157, while Adrian
Tramutola will wrestle Ruiz at 125. UTC’s Bobby Hanson, ranked eighth in
this week’s national poll, has won his last 10 dual matches.
Other UTC wrestlers with unblemished conference records are Bobby Cook at
141, Beau Baker at 165 and Pete Peterson at 184.
The match begins at 7 p.m. at Maclellan Gym. High school students in town
for the Tennessee State Wrestling Tournament, which will be held on the UTC
