In recognition of her ongoing research on sexual assault in male
penitentiaries, Dr. Helen Eigenberg, Director of UTC's School of
Social & Community Services, has been selected as one of several
national experts to address a national conference in Washington, D.C.

The conference is sponsored by the ACLU National Prison Project,
Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Interlock Media, Stop
Prisoner Rape and the Washington College of Law.

This conference, to be held on October 19, 2001, is the first ever
to focus on the human rights violation of prisoner rape. The objective
of the conference is to find ways to give meaning to the principle that
rape is “not part of the penalty that criminal offenders pay for their
offenses against society”.

Please join in congratulating Dr. Eigenberg for on being recognized for
her expertise in this area.
