The United Campus Workers of UTC and UT-Knoxville has launched a campaign to invite every UTC employee to join the union. United, we will have greater access to bodies making decisions which impact our lives. We canot change policies of the state or the UT system, acting as individuals, but working TOGETHER we can impact policy, and decisions as to how the meagre resources are distributed.
Take a moment to examine your own family's level of wellbeing. Sure, some UTC members have multiple incomes which allow them to make ends meet, or even pay for an occasional vacation without using credit cards you will pay back over a year or longer, but with increasing costs of living, and the necessity to spend your own money traveling for university business (unless you attend a very unusually inexpensive conference), you are paying hundreds of dollars just to do your scholarly work.
Think about the strength which lies in working together to strengthen the quality of our university and the culture of our learning community.
