Greetings..I thought you would like an update as to UTC's role in helping
students from Gulf Coast institutions.
As of Friday, we admitted and registered 9 students..so far this morning we
admitted and registered one student and know of at least 3 more arriving
today...how many more to expect.right now we don't know that answer. I will
be notifying professors and department heads by email as we register
students in your classes.
Our students are primarily from institutions in New Orleans and I thought
you might like some additional information about our visitors..
Five students are from the University of New Orleans
Four are from Tulane
One is from Dillard
The majority are freshman with ties to the area..although we do have several
upper class students actually from New Orleans..one student came with a
spouse and child. So far only one student is in housing but that number
will probably grow as some students are staying with extended family in
overcrowded conditions. Most evacuated with an overnight bag and fully
expected to return to their schools once the danger passed.
Please welcome these students and help bring them current with not only
their work in your classes but with all of the services available to UTC
students ..thank you.
