Here is some information from the Grants Office and the Office of Business
and Financial Affairs that we hope will be helpful to faculty and staff
with responsibility for managing contracts for UTC:

1. Only Chancellor Bill Stacy and Acting Vice Chancellor Bill Aiken are
authorized to sign contracts for UTC. Your contract is not considered
approved by UTC and is not legally binding unless it is signed by one of
these two officials.

2. To expedite contract processing, submit your contract to the appropriate
office for approval and processing:

A. The Office of Grants and Program Review processes
all grant-related contracts and academic service-related
contracts where UTC is receiving money from another entity.

B. The Office of Business and Financial Affairs processes
all other contracts, including all disbursement contracts
where UTC is paying money to another entity.

C. Do not submit contracts directly to the Offices of
Chancellor Bill Stacy or Acting Vice Chancellor
Bill Aiken. The Chancellor and Acting Vice Chancellor
sign contracts only after certain review procedures
are completed. If you submit contracts directly to them,
they will transfer them back to the Grants Office or
Business and Financial Affairs before signing them,
        possibly causing delays to occur.

3. Contracts need to be processed, approved, and signed prior to the
beginning date of the contract.

If you have any questions or need assistance of any kind in determining how
to process and expedite contracts, please do not hesitate to call the
Grants Office at ext. 4431 or Business and Financial Affairs at ext.4530.

Information also is available at http://www.utenn.edu/uwa/to/.
