Congratulations to Professors Lee Harris and Jonathan McNair on their work
in starting two new certification programs in music and offering the
classes this past summer. Professor Harris has initiated a certification
program in Kodaly studies at UTC. Kodaly methodology is an approach to
music education that demands strong singing and sight-reading skills from
the teacher and the student. Jonathan McNair taught an introductory
workshop for music teachers on integrating electronic musical instruments
and music software into the classroom. UTC has joined a consortium of
universities offering certification in computer technology in music. In
recent years, technology has revolutionized music recording, notation
systems, and performance possibilities.
