Many of you may be experiencing network difficulties with local (UTC)
services in addition to our always limited bandwidth Internet lines.
Rusty Leutz and I have been working on resolving the problem for the
majority of the day, and I'm continuing to investigate from home and
working with vendor tech support. We have not yet isolated what the
problem IS, but are increasing our list of what it is NOT.
Please be patient with us as this one may lurk around for awhile. The
possibilities of finding the true cause by non-intrusive means are
running thin, so we may have to disrupt the network for brief periods in
an effort to isolate the problem. This will be kept out of "prime time"
as much as possible.
At this point the bulk of the trouble is in the academic networks, the
administrative networks are reasonably normal. However, since cecasun
is on an academic network, this will affect mail and www.utc.edu for
even administrative/faculty/staff users.
Will keep you informed.
